| WHY DOES WYWRA USE THE TAG-A-BAG PROGRAM?
The purpose behind Tag-a-Bag is to encourage reduction of waste and
increase the amount of material that is recycled. Since many landfills
will be closed and as waste hauling is expensive, we are trying to encourage
separation of wastes. This is done by charging individual home owners
to dispose of garbage. Residents will place a specially printed tag
on each 67 litre (standard) garbage bag.
OPTIONS FOR HOMEOWNERS
Homeowners have three options for disposing of waste:
-
By following recycling guidelines (see recycling program) you may take
appropriate recyclables to the nearest WYWRA Recycling Centre. Lawn and
garden wastes may be taken to the nearest Transfer Station or composted
by the homeowner.
-
If you have your garbage picked up at your residence, you are required
to use a full tag on every standard garbage bag.
-
You may transport your own waste to the nearest Transfer Station or Landfill.
If you do this, you may use a half tag. There will be a charge
for bulk (unsorted) waste taken to the Transfer Station or Landfill.
Prices for bulk waste are posted below.
